The California Polytechnic State University Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) Department of Architecture and Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH) are pleased to announce the BESS 2010 Symposium: High Performance Building Enclosures - Practical Sustainability. The symposium will be held on the Cal Poly Pomona campus 30 April - 1 May 2010. This symposium will provide industry professionals, academic leaders, and students a forum to share and discuss state-of-the-art tools and techniques in sustainable enclosure design.  By focusing on practical application, we envision that attendees will gain both the necessary knowledge base and the desire to put sustainable building enclosure concepts into practice.

For more information about the symposium, please visit www.sgh.com/bess2010.

One of the most difficult challenges confronting architectural students who wish to incorporate sustainable principles of design lies in understanding what are the most appropriate tools to use and how and when to efficiently and effectively integrate them into the design process. This website aims to provide a practical overview of some of the available tools and methodologies for incorporating sustainable principles into the design process. toolsforsustainability.com is an online forum for students of Architecture - started and updated by faculty and students at Cal Poly Pomona's Department of Architecture. The website is just starting out, so please email juintow at foxlin dot com if you have any comments.
