ACSA Talk

Juintow Lin gave a talk on her paper, entitled "Design for Quantitative and Qualitative Performance: A Pedagogical Approach for Integrating Environmental Analysis into the Early Stages of the Design Process " a the Annual Meeting of ACSA in New Orleans as part of the "Energy and Environmental Simulation in the Design Studio" session. The "ToolsForSustainability" Project

One of the most difficult challenges confronting architectural students who wish to incorporate sustainable principles of design lies in understanding what are the most appropriate tools to use and how and when to efficiently and effectively integrate them into the design process. This website aims to provide a practical overview of some of the available tools and methodologies for incorporating sustainable principles into the design process. toolsforsustainability.com is an online forum for students of Architecture - started and updated by faculty and students at Cal Poly Pomona's Department of Architecture. The website is just starting out, so please email juintow at foxlin dot com if you have any comments.

China Housing Book published

Sustainable Urban Housing in China: Principles and Case Studies for Low-Energy Design, coedited by Leon Glicksman and Juintow Lin is now available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Springer. The book is part of the Alliance for Global Sustainability Bookseries, and features case studies and recommendations for new approaches to environmentally responsive sustainable building. It illuminates many principles of sustainability and energy efficiency applicable to buildings throughout the world, and in developing countries in particular.

Top 100 Architecture Blogs

The Tools for Sustainabilty website has been featured in the article, "Top 100 Architecture Blogs" at http://www.intlistings.com/articles/2007/top-100-architecture-blogs/. Thanks to all who contributed.

Website launched

Toolsforsustainability.com has launched. It is intended to be an online forum to aid architectural students in choosing appropriate tools for sustainable building analyses. This website is a work in progress. Feel free to send any comments to us.
